Navigating the complex terrains of a B2C real estate marketplace, allmyhomes was keen on refining its user experience. Our dual objectives were to enhance our platform's user-friendliness and to gather insights from competitor platforms to bolster our own design strategies.
Approach: My team initiated in-depth “Expert Reviews” for the allmyhomes Marketplace benchmarking our design against leading usability guidelines, design best practices, and the collective experience of the UX team.
Purpose: This methodological assessment not only aimed at improving the user experience but also offered our UX designers an immersion into the end product, ensuring a panoramic view of the entire customer journey.
Approach: To understand the competitive landscape, we incorporated Expert Reviews into our competitive analysis strategy. A designated UX expert critically evaluated designs from competitor platforms.
Focus: We zoomed in on standout features, both commendable and lackluster. Specific attributes like tone, the equilibrium between information and user action, trust signals, and process detail level were at the forefront of our evaluation.
Our internal evaluations identified and addressed multiple usability obstacles, leading to an improved and more intuitive user interface. By comparing our platform with competitors', we discovered key design insights that have since been incorporated, enhancing the robustness and user-focus of our platform.
The integration of expert reviews and competitive analysis has highlighted the significance of continuous self-evaluation and awareness of the market in UX design. It has also demonstrated that approaches such as heuristic evaluation or an expert review can serve as effective and cost-efficient starting points for improvements in UX/UI.
